*AUS* v 5.56mm -- Posted by Elmo on Wednesday, May 12 2004
Entering the USF Elimination Comp, *AUS* managed to pull one of the hardest matches for the first round!!! *AUS* in the GA season 1 finishing a respectable 15th position, was destined to go against the clan 5.56mm, new to the COD ladder, but not new to winning and Online Games. Iced Frogged tipped this to be one of the matches of the tourney, and many tipped *AUS* to be knocked over easily by 5.56mm.
After both teams entered the server, the first thing noticed was the lag. Oh well, both teams had to deal with it. Once the usual drawing names with the MG had been completed, the match was a go'er. *AUS* starting off as german, we had the unusual task of defending the small carentan village with only 6 ppl. Spots were organized and marshmellows were out and roasting as *AUS* prepared for the onslaught that would come. *AUS* managed to take the first round, both teams down to 1 man, the *AUS* soldier coming out ahead. 5.56mm then managed to take out the next 4 rounds (I think) making rushes mostly to bomb B, and then preceeding to kill the rest of the *AUS* Soldiers before disarm. With the scores at 6 - 2 *AUS* regrouped and took the next 2 rounds to leave 5.56mm leading 6 - 4 at the break.
Both teams readied up straight away, keen to get on the attack again. *AUS* as Yanks, was very careful at the beginning of the first round, keen to see where the 5.56mm tents could be seen. Takning the first round as Allied by taking B, thinking it was a good idea, we tried it again, with most of the team, only to be cut down by Stony's MP44. A few more rounds going by, one memorable moment when *AUS* planted, and only our sniper remained, well, if you think the sniper is useless, think again, Enzyme taking out 3 or 4 Germans attempting to diffuse the ticking bomb. 5.56mm assured at least a draw taking round 17 to make the scores 10 - 7. *AUS*. The follwoing round 5.56mm cleaned us up and the match finished with a score of 13 - 7 to 5.56mm.
Was some Good Games by all, well fought by *AUS*, never concieding victory and well deserved to 5.56mm.
